Bankstown Bites to satisfy your appetite
South-West Sydney's largest food festival Bankstown Bities is on again, with the Bankstown CBD to be transformed into a food lover's haven.
Now in its seventh year, the 2011 Bankstown Bites Food Festival will be held from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 30 July 2011 in Bankstown City Plaza and the South Terrace bus interchange.
Mayor of Bankstown Clr Khal Asfour said last year's event was a great success with more than 20,000 people from across Sydney coming to experience Bankstown's signature event.
"With more than 1000 restaurants, cafés and food outlets from across the globe, Bankstown is an ideal venue to host one of Sydney's largest food festivals.
"The combination of food, entertainment, discovery food tours and cooking demonstrations is the perfect mix of ingredients for a great day out," Mayor Asfour said.
This year’s festival will showcase the talents of celebrity chef Darren Simpson. Darren, an Irish born chef is known for his Italian cuisine as well as his appearances on several TV shows including Sunrise, My Restaurant Rules, Live This and Ready Steady Cook.
The event will also include cooking demonstrations by talented local chefs Antonios Chayna, Sous Chef at Platform 1 and Ben Ndreka - Assistant Chef, from the Bankstown Sports, Robert Green - Executive Chef and Hung Le -Sous Chef, Bel Cibo from Revesby Workers Club and Junior Chef Lena Dovan, a Year 10 student at East Hills Girls Technology High School.
Bankstown Bites event would not be complete without the Discovery Food Tours comprising 10 themed tours organised to help patrons sample Bankstown's vibrant multicultural cuisine. Bookings are essential for the 10:30am and 2:00pm tours, with registrations for the 12:30pm tour only available on the day.
Bankstown Bites is organised by Bankstown City Council and supported by Bankstown-Canterbury Torch, Bankstown Sports, Bankstown RSL, Revesby Workers Club and the Bankstown-Canterbury Express.
