TAKE A BITE IN BANKSTOWN THIS JULY
The Mayor of Bankstown, Councillor Tania Mihailuk, is inviting local residents and visitors to attend the city’s annual celebration of international food and culture, Bankstown Bites.
Now in its sixth year, Bankstown Bites will be held from 10am on Saturday, 31 July in the South Terrace business precinct. Around 30000 people are expected to attend the popular event.
Councillor Mihailuk said “the highlights of the Festival are the cooking demonstrations and food discovery tours. These provide an opportunity for visitors to experience the unique culinary influences within the City of Bankstown."
"Bankstown Bites appeals to both local and metropolitan audiences."
This year’s festival will showcase the talents of chefs including Miguel Maestre of El Toro Loco, Manly. Miguel has worked in some of the premier kitchens of the UK, Spain and Sydney, and has appeared in several television series including Boys Weekend.
Tony Chayna, Sous Chef at Platform 1 in the Bankstown Sports Club, will join Miguel in demonstrating their talents on the main stage. Tony arrived at the Sports Club in 1999 after working his way through a number of renown Sydney restaurants.
Bankstown Bites will also feature the launch of Taste – Bankstown On A Plate. This book has been compiled from the recipes of contestants, judges and advisors from the Bankstown Pressure Cooks series of past years.
Children’s activities, performances and stalls will also feature at this year’s event. Further information on Bankstown Bites is available by visiting www.bankstownbites.com.au.
Bankstown Bites is organised by Bankstown City Council and supported by Bankstown-Canterbury Torch, Bankstown Sports, Bankstown RSL Club, Yoosh, Revesby Workers Club, Yoosh, Bankstown-Canterbury Express and the Benevolent Society.
